Why We Need to Know Scripture
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In the wild, it’s rare to see a dolphin jump out of the water, but he did, and I did. See him, that is. Shocked that fading vision caught this beautiful creature. Immediately, my attention turned to something more surprising. Iva saw the dolphin too. Her reaction stirred up laughter on the boat.
Iva whined, getting down on her front legs ready to jump right back at her aquatic playmate, like she does when she meets friendly dogs. We quieted her whines. Dolphins surrounded our boat, and Iva spotted them easily.
After our morning dolphin cruise, we entered a restaurant to fill our grumbling bellies with seafood. The hostess remarked, “I’ll have to check with the manager to see if the dog is allowed.”
I informed her about the law. As she spoke to her boss, I tried to coaxed Timmy to leave. This place did not deserve my money. Timmy wanted to force their hand. She seated us without another word.
We still ended up leaving without lunch, since they no longer serve shrimp. We went to another seafood restaurant where the waitress loved Iva, and the shrimp was delicious.
North Carolina’s Outer Banks must have a fake service dog epidemic. Vacationers bring their furry friend, especially if they rent a house. Then they want Fido to tag along with them into businesses. They go online to purchase a “Do not pet” vest. They may even get fake paperwork.
One gift shop displayed a sign which demonstrated their understanding of the American with disabilities act. It read:
“No pets allowed. Only service dogs. Be prepared to describe the service the dog provides.”
Genuine service animals are allowed in any public place. The ADA law states that disabled people are not required to provide any paperwork
The business can be handed fake papers, but they have the right to ask what duties the dog provides. Pretty obvious with blind people. I have found most businesses don’t fully understand the ADA law.
Similarly, Christians must have a vast understanding of the Bible. Two people go through a trial. One knows Scripture well. He memorizes verses regularly. He reads daily. He studies to understand what he reads. He prays the Word and speaks it over his life.
The other person never memorizes Scripture. His Bible is only cracked open on Sundays. His knowledge of Scripture is minimal at best.
Which person is going to know that God will give him grace and strength when he needs it? Which one knows God is always by his side fighting the battle for him? Which one understands peace that is incomprehensible? Which one will see joy in sorrow?
Knowledge is priceless. Wisdom is wealth. Needless to say, no amount of Bible knowledge saves a person. Salvation only comes from being born again and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We must immerse ourselves in God’s love letter. Get to know the god who knows you.
