THANK GOD

O, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!

For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,

-Ps. 107:1-2a (NKJV)

The redeemed should be the most thankful people on earth. We have more to be thankful for than the unbeliever because we have been rescued from eternal damnation by Christ’s sacrificial death. However, when we express our thanks, let us make sure that the thanks are given to God because all our blessings are from Him. The paycheck which you bring home every week comes from God because He has provided a job for you. The friends and families that you have are also from God because He has placed you among these people.

Salvation is our greatest blessing because without it we would not have a personal relationship with God. Salvation is not just eternal life, but it is abundant life. We may not have the possessions of the unbelievers, but we have so much more. We have peace in the midst of a trial. We have joy in the Lord, no matter what our circumstances may be.

Do you remember prior to your salvation when you hungered for something to make your life just right? You couldn’t find it in clothes, houses, or possessions. Many people try to find it in alcohol, drugs or sex. You were like the Israelites- “hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.” (Ps. 107:5-6). Do you remember the time when you cried out and He delivered you? If not, cry out to God now, and He will save you and put you on the right path. It doesn’t mean that your life will get easier, but He will never leave you during the storms. He is in control of them.

Christians definitely have so much to thank God for. What a wonderful witness to the world to see a Christian giving their heavenly Father thanks. Make every day a thankful day!

Dear Lord,

Forgive me for the times when I neglect to thank You. I thank You today for Your many blessings. In Your precious name, amen.

DIG DEEPER

Read Psalm 107. It is long, so you may want to split it. As you read, give thanks to God.

HIKING THE TRAIL

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, let the world see a thankful attitude as a witness to God.
