ASK AND RECEIVE

For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds,

And to him who knocks it will be opened.

Luke 11:10 NKJV

What are the results of persistent prayer? Jesus had finished giving the command to ask, seek, and knock. It was a lesson on boldly storming heaven with our prayer requests. This is a humbling process because asking is synonymous with begging. Seeking is action, and knocking is the repetitive persistent prayer.

When we ask, we will receive. When we seek, we will find, and when we knock, over and over, doors will be opened.

Jesus gave 3 examples of fathers giving good gifts to their sons. God is our heavenly Father, so He will give good gifts to us.

The first son asked for bread. The second son asked for a fish, and the third requested an egg. In each instance, Jesus explained that the fathers would give these sons what they requested they certainly would not give their sons things such as stones, serpents, or scorpions.

Jesus concluded, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13). The evil fathers He was speaking to included His disciples. We must remember that even though we are saved, we are evil when compared to God’s holiness.

If sinful men can give such good gifts, imagine what wonderful gifts God will give us! When we ask for comfort, God gives us the Comforter – the Holy Spirit. When we need help, He gives us the Helper. He does not only give us the gift, but the giver of the gift who is living in all Christians! We could not ask for anything more.

When you ask, you will receive. As we seek, we will find. Heavenly doors open with much knocking, and good gifts await those who ask.

THE NAMES OF GOD

Ruach Elohim – Spirit Of God

“When they came there to the hill, there was a group of prophets to meet him; then the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.” 1 Sam. 10:10 NKJV

God knew we would need a Helper and a Comforter. Ruach Elohim is our guide. He sanctifies us. He helps us pray when we don’t know how we should pray. He is the giver of good gifts. Ask, seek, knock, and God will lavish us with His goodness.

WALKING THE WALK

Is there something you have not been asking for? Perhaps it is time to knock continually until the answer comes. How can you pray differently this week?

Heavenly Father,

You have so many good gifts waiting for us. We just need to ask. We need to seek, knocking and You will answer. Thank You for the many good gifts we have already received. Thank You for the ones You have planned for us. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
