8 Bible Verses About Hearing the Voice of God

  1. I will hear what God the Lordwill speak,
    For He will speak peace
    To His people and to His saints;
But let them not turn back to folly.
    (Psalm 85:8 NKJV)

Are you in the midst of chaos? Is your heart heavy with anxiety? Did you know that God can speak peace? Ask Him to speak a word of peace to calm the chaos in your life.

  1. Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV)

God only reveals certain things to those willing to hear and obey. He commands us to ask Him to reveal these things.

  1. It is the Spirit who gives life; theflesh profits nothing. Thewords that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63 NKJV)

Whether we realize it or not, our flesh screams out volumes each day. We must get intentional about silencing the flesh because the Words of the Spirit are life.

  1. Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.” (Mark 4:24 NKJV)

Great reward comes from listening to the voice of God. We rob ourselves of blessing and answered prayer when we don’t stop and say,” Speak, God, I am listening.”

  1. So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17 NKJV)

This verse has two vital principles for us to follow. First, faith comes from hearing, not necessarily from God directly, but through preachers. God speaks to us through preachers.

Second, we hear God through the Word of God. If you want to hear His voice, listen to your pastor, and listen while you read the Bible. Read it aloud.

  1. Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. (Hebrews 2:1 NKJV)

We can drift away from God, even in small distances without realizing it. The author of Hebrews warns us to heed what we have heard, or as James says, be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer.

  1. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. (Revelation 1:3 NKJV)

Blessing comes to those who hear. Since we are living in the last days, obedience carries much weight. How can we accomplish the will of God without hearing it, especially in these times?

  1. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”” (Revelation 3:22 NKJV)

The Spirit speaks. Do we listen? Do we practice the discipline of staying quiet? What is one thing you can do right now to hear the voice of God?
