Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

(1 Samuel 17:45 NKJV)

Are you weary from the continuous battle? The darkness of depression? The heartache of a broken relationship? The weakness from fighting cancer? The daily grind of your job? The emptiness of your home? The never-ending pain or the lingering illness? If you can answer “Yes” to any of those questions, you need to pray to Jehovah Tsaba.

God has many names throughout Scripture, and I must admit Jehovah Tsaba isn’t one I use in prayer, but that’s changing. I need Him to fight my battles. It means “Lord of hosts.” God is Lord over an army of angels who are mighty warriors. They stand ready for battle.

When David faced the giant, Goliath, He had victory in the name of Jehovah Tsaba. David never fought in his own strength, even when he slayed bears and lions while tending his father’s sheep. This Philistine threatening Israel was no different. The Lord of hosts prevailed over Goliath and the Philistine army that day.

The Lord of hosts first appears in 1 Samuel 1:11, when Hannah prayed asking God to remember her as she pleaded for a son. I was speaking on this passage one Sunday when I faced my own giant. Since I am blind, I use my iPhone’s voice over feature to read my Scripture. I break up my verses in small chunks, swipe my phone, and use my earbud to hear it as I repeat it. Only on this particular Sunday, my earbud was dead. I tried reading without it, but the phone kept chattering as I was speaking. I turned the phone off, and Jehovah Tsaba won the battle for me. The enemy tried preventing the word of God from going forward, but God enabled me to describe the narrative in my own words.

At first, I felt horrible. I felt like I had failed. I need to pray to Jehovah Tsaba especially when I stand behind a pulpit, because the enemy has a bull’s eye on me.

No matter what we are battling; health issues, money issues, or family issues, we fight the same enemy. Satan is the root cause behind every single problem we face. God never told us we had to fight him alone. As a matter of fact, the battle belongs to the Lord of hosts (1 Sam. 17:47). He stands ready to lead His army of angels to fight on our behalf.

My friend, turn to Jehovah Tsaba today. You can google the pronunciation. Even if we don’t pronounce it correctly, God knows His name. Call on the Lord of hosts and ask Him to fight your battles.

Jehovah Tsaba, You are mighty in power. Nothing is too difficult for You. Lord, I give You my battle today. Please fight for me. I trust You to be victorious over this battle. Thank You for the victory in the name of Jesus, amen.
