What Can We Learn From Fear?
You might be surprised to learn that in 2016, I clung to my husband like Linus holding his blanket on the Charlie Brown cartoons. I didn’t crave independence, but a guide dog could do so much more for me than a white cane. By the way, I’m blind.
I applied for a dog through Guiding Eyes for the Blind in New York When they approved my application, I experienced some angsts. Flying alone to LaGuardia Airport in New York City terrified me. As a class, we had to walk our dogs in Manhattan, and that created more stress. I also had some qualms about living at the school in dorms for three weeks, during the training process.
I also had doubts about being responsible for this dog. Would I be a good dog mom?
Each day, Satan bombarded me with fears. What if I get lost in the airport? What will it be like to live with strangers? What if I get mugged?
Finding Contentment in Our Storms
If you ever vacation in Nags Head North Carolina, visit Jeanette’s Pier. It’s not your typical fishing pier. There’s a nice enclosed area to escape the summer heat. You can also walk out on the pier watching fish as they are reeled in. There’s also an upper deck viewing area.
We were leaving the pier to walk back up the beach to our motel when we heard a loud crack of thunder. A bolt of lightning flashed across the black sky, and we quickly returned inside until the storm passed.
I didn’t want to be stuck there any longer. I would have preferred to wait it out in my motel room, where I could have done something productive, such as writing. Here we were, safe from the storm, and I turned my attention to the large aquarium with its various fish.

Surviving Christmas with Depression
Darkness engulfs our days. Like the sun slipping away earlier and earlier each day, we find it difficult to grasp onto hope. Pain envelopes us with its tentacles. Defeat covers us at night and greets us each morning. A tear-soaked pillow cradles our head as we contemplate life…and death.
I cry out to God once again. “Where are You?” No reply. Wy doesn’t He answer? I know

When Things Get Worse Instead of Better
Before you give Satan credit for God’s work, examine Exodus chapter fourteen. God is the one who led Israel to the edge of the Red Sea. Then God hardened Pharaoh’s heart causing him to pursue the Israelites. A loving God wouldn’t do that! But yes, He did.
Before you credit the devil for the unfavorable circumstances in your life, consider that God’s ways are different than ours. Before you rebuke the enemy for the corner you find yourself backed into, remember that God’s thoughts are higher than ours.
