Can We Control Fear?
Terrorists no longer need planes. They can mow people over using a truck. The police who normally keep us safe are now being targeted, ambushed and killed. It can happen anytime and anywhere. Public bathrooms have become a hiding place for sexual predators. Our world no longer feels safe, and that frightens us.
Fear paralyzes us, keeping us from moving forward for Christ while it hinders us from achieving our dreams. It is one of Satan’s weapons. However, weapons may be formed against us, but they will not prosper (Is. 54:17 NKJV).
Alpha and Omega
As a child, I played with my little wooden blocks. Each block portrayed a letter of the alphabet. I could use them to create words or build a castle.
Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega is the last. When Jesus Christ declared “I am the Alpha and Omega,” He meant He consisted of everything from A to Z. We often use that term to describe something that contains all the information on a subject.
With twenty-six letters in the English alphabet, we create myriads of words. All words come from those twenty-six letters. We cannot create a word or a book without them, and we can’t find total fulfillment apart from Jesus Christ.

This Will Help You Shine As Lights in a Dark World
Before you read any further, get all your complaints and rants out of your system. That’s right, say it out loud, because this might be your last complaint. I wish it could be that easy to stop. It’s a nasty habit we inherited from our Israelite forefathers. Never mind that we aren’t Jewish.
Do You Have an Appointment with Jesus?
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
(Isaiah 9:6 NKJV)
Consider this your reminder; you have an appointment with Jesus – right now! We see this familiar verse on Christmas cards. Today we’re only looking at two words: Wonderful Counselor.
Putting on the Belt of Truth
I’ve noticed changes in my body post-Covid. I return home after a walk void of energy. As temperatures rise, my stamina declines. A change in diet or my exercise routine might benefit my physical endurance, but what about my spiritual stamina? How can I make sure I am prepared for whatever the enemy throws at me today?
Can a Christian Be Depressed?
Yes, Christians do suffer from depression. I know because I am one who fights the battle.
Don’t Get Hysterical About the Historical
I am better when I’m not bitter. I never want that root of bitterness springing up within me again, because getting rid of it reminds me of crabgrass. Now, Alexa (Amazon’s talking assistant) tells me crabgrass grows in the forty-eight contiguous United States, but if you don’t know what crabgrass is, allow me to enlighten you.
Crabgrass is a hard-to-kill weed that has deep roots, but it spreads across the top of your yard. You can pull up a long string of the pesky weed, but you probably won’t get the root. It will return.
I’ve been held captive by bitterness, and its cousins, anger and unforgiveness. A quarrel with my husband, family member or a long-time acquaintance can turn the embers of bitterness into a raging fire in an instant.
