From Oppression to Opportunity
FROM OPPRESSION TO OPPORTUNITY By Carolyn Dale Newell These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have...
When Will the Mountain Move?
“Pain, be gone in the name of Jesus!” Isn’t that what Jesus told us to do? He said if we speak to the mountain, meaning our mountain-size problem, that it would be removed (Mark 11:23). Yes, Jesus told us to speak to the mountain, but He didn’t say when the mountain would move.
Each day I prayed with little or no change. This continued on for months, and like Jeremiah, I lost all hope.
Have you been there, my friend? Have you spoke to that chronic pain and kept the faith?
Have It God’s Way
I don’t know about you, but I hate change. My plans get disrupted beyond my control. My hopes to make that special purchase are dashed when an unexpected bill arrives. I get irritable as my frustration boils until I remember God is in control.

An Amazing Answer to Prayer
My phone came alive buzzing with the familiar ringtone signifying I had a call from my prodigal daughter. I grabbed the phone with anticipation and a hint of dread. What would I hear?
Six weeks had passed since her last call. Even when I called her to wish her a happy birthday, she never answered. I received this text: “I’m busy at work. Call you later.”
After no call came, I grew concerned. Anyone could send a text.
As we talked, I discovered she was fine. She wasn’t homeless or sick.
That’s when I told her about all the people who had prayed for her.
When God is Silent
Have you ever felt alone in your suffering? No one gets it, and even God is silent.
Unacceptably Acceptable
Standing on God’s Word isn’t socially acceptable today. It may cause rifts in families. You won’t win any popularity contests either. But like Daniel and his friends, we aren’t concerned with people pleasing.
In the book of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar made a tremendous image of gold. At the dedication of the image all his governing officials were commanded to bow down and worship the image. Everyone complied with the king’s orders except for three Hebrew young men. They stood for God when everyone else bowed down to the king.
