Good Friday is often overshadowed by Easter Sunday, but it is the day we reflect on the cross. That old rugged cross which represents love, grace and mercy. It was a day of violence, bloodshed and death, but Jesus rose from the grave three days later to triumph over sin, death, and Satan.
We are sinners, and our holy and just God requires a penalty to be paid for sin. It can never be paid through any amount of good works. Only by the sinless Son of God.
Jesus Christ paid our sin debt on that cross. It is the only way we can be saved. When sinners place their trust in Christ and His work on the cross, they are justified. As they say, “It’s just if I’d never sinned.” In God’s eyes, He no longer sees our unrighteousness; instead He sees the righteousness of Christ.
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I, who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Gal. 5:20
It was just as if I had been on the cross. He paid my sin debt, and oh, what a debt it was!
He was wounded for our transgressions. Spikes were hammered through His hands and feet. He was bruised for our iniquities – beaten, mocked and humiliated.
He held the power to come down from the cross, but He refused to use it. He stayed there out of His great love for us. No greater price has ever been paid. No greater love has ever been given. What does the cross mean to you today?
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for the cross. Thank You for saving a sinner like me. May I never forget the high price of redemption. Amen.

Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Do you feel the guilt of your sin? Repent and ask God to save you because Jesus has already paid the sin debt.
