When chronic pain changes your body, your plans, and your patience, what can God grow in you?
After three months of crippling scoliosis, nine months of waiting for spinal fusion, and the long months of healing afterward, I am not sure I have gained patience. But I can tell you this: I have gained endurance.
In this Bible teaching, we look at James 1:2-4 and what it means for our faith to grow through suffering. James reminds us that testing develops endurance, and endurance helps us become spiritually mature and complete.
This message is for anyone living with chronic pain, chronic illness, surgery recovery, depression, or a season of waiting on God.
We will discuss four practical ways to endure:
- Read Scripture, especially the Psalms
- Embrace God’s sufficient grace and power in weakness
- Look beyond the present toward eternal glory
- Allow God’s Word to change your perspective on suffering
