Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:8-9 NKJV)

“God, I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but Your grace doesn’t feel very sufficient right now. I’m thinking it, and You know my thoughts, so I might as well say it. Your grace isn’t sufficient this time.”

After that bold prayer, I continued whimpering upon my bed. It had become my office. Whenever I sat anywhere, sharp pains nagged at me until I had to get up. I couldn’t sit at my desk, the kitchen table to eat, and definitely not on the sofa or recliner.

Where was the grace God promised, because I didn’t feel it.

Paul had a major problem which he referred to as a thorn in the flesh. He asked God to remove it, but God refused. Instead, God gave Paul the sufficient grace he needed to live with the thorn.

I’m glad we don’t know what Paul’s thorn was because it could be the same thorn I have. It could be your thorn.

Several minutes passed and I stopped begging God to help. In those moments, I felt a peace. Yes, even some temporary relief from the pain. God’s grace truly is sufficient.

Perhaps He waits for us to ask. If we didn’t have a thorn, we would never receive His grace.

What thorn do you have now? Have you seen God’s grace, or like me, you don’t recognize His grace. Ask. No, beg Him because His grace is available and sufficient.
