I have a treat for you all today. While promoting Overcoming the Overwhelming, I met a wonderful Christian author through social media, Sarah Tyler. Today, I am featuring a devotional written by Sarah. Check out her web site and her books. Thank you, Sarah for sharing with us.
Margie sat emotionally with tears streaming down her face as if she was unaware of the several hundred others that also sat around her. Margie was one of the many that were attending a Grief Share Meeting. As she wiped the tears from her eyes, trying to act as if all was okay, she started to listen as the speaker walked to the podium and begin to speak.
The speaker started with; Welcome, to the many at this meeting. I know you are here because of some sort of grief. Well, you are not alone in your grief my friend. I am going to speak because I also know about grief. Even if it may not be the same type of grief that you are experiencing.
Let me start with; if anyone of you here has a CURE for the deadly disease Cancer, would you NOT want to tell everybody that has Cancer? That’s going to be my point in this meeting.
No matter what the grief you are bearing, no matter what burdens you carry, you are here to find comfort, peace and “just how do I get over my hopelessness, my despair?”
Psalm 46:1-3 KJV starts with our answer. GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains are carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah,
This word, Selah, I have understood to be a Hebrew word, is used to mean “praise,” or pause and reflect upon what has just been said.” Indeed, a great thing to do in any Bible scripture that gives us instruction.
There are many different griefs that we face as we travel our own life’s journey. My grief may be the loss of a loved one, the pain of a divorce, a struggle with a wayward child, a friend or loved one that took their own life. In the world, we WILL have TRIBULATION but, be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33.KJV
Jesus, being God in the flesh, knew we would have our struggles. “Jesus knows all about my struggles. He will guide till the day is done there’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus, no not one, no not one.” A song lyric from “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”
When you have accepted Jesus as your own personal Savior, when you know to whom you belong, then, you have that help you need for your grief. All the grief’s that are represented in this Grief Share Meeting will be answered by the “Blood of the Cross”. I’m here to tell you that “Jesus Cares, oh, yes He cares”. But the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, AFTER that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle.1 Peter 5:10 KJV.
Friend, it’s all about turning, leaning into Jesus. Knowing whom you belong to; will help you know who you are in Christ. He has already won the VICTORY for you. All roads, the grief’s you bear, lead to the Cross of Jesus. Kneel at the cross, Jesus will meet you there.
