I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

Ps. 139:14 (NKJV)

It is amazing to watch a documentary or listen to a doctor explain the ways our bodies work. It is so awesome how God designed us. How could anyone not believe that we have been divinely created by God, and not the result of a big explosion.

When a person loses one of their senses, their other senses are heightened. I have been legally blind for many years, but recently, when my vision decreased rapidly, I noticed a surge in my other senses. For example, I know when I am on the baking aisle at Wal-Mart because I smell marshmallows.

For some time I have desired to visit Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River. As our upcoming trip drew near, I feared that I had waited too long, and I would not be able to see the large mountains in western North Carolina. I prayed that God would help me experience the mountains with my other senses. As we traveled, I did see some big mountains, but there was fog around the top of Mount Mitchell. Nearing the top, I was able to see that the only trees growing near the summit were evergreens. There were no maples or oaks. The air was filled with the scent of Christmas trees. The wind sounded odd as it raced through the trees in waves much like the ocean waves. I had definitely experienced the altitude of Mount Mitchell.

Many times, I have detected things before sighted people by sounds, such as approaching cars, geese flying overhead, and dolphins in the water. I never cease to be amazed at the way God has created us. I will never silence my praises to Him.
