And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
(Exodus 14:13-14 NKJV)
Before you give Satan credit for God’s work, examine Exodus chapter fourteen. God is the one who led Israel to the edge of the Red Sea. Then God hardened Pharaoh’s heart causing him to pursue the Israelites. A loving God wouldn’t do that! But yes, He did.
Before you credit the devil for the unfavorable circumstances in your life, consider that God’s ways are different than ours. Before you rebuke the enemy for the corner you find yourself backed into, remember that God’s thoughts are higher than ours.
Like the Israelites wandering out of Egyptian bondage, we think our journey through the wilderness shouldn’t hit a snag. But when it does, we blame Satan.
God put Israel in a situation they could not get themselves out of. Only God could help them. Friend, God still does that today. He wants to strip us of self-reliance.
We see things getting worse, and discouragement takes root. Unbelief clouds our thoughts. We grow weary in prayer.
But we must stop all of that! We can’t see the whole picture, only the portion before our eyes. God has a plan, and He had a plan for Israel too.
When Israel trembled, sandwiched between Pharaoh’s army and a watery grave, Moses instructed them. First, do not be afraid. Fear doesn’t come from God (2 Tim. 1:7). You might feel threatened by the situations in your life today. Heed this command and refuse to let fear overwhelm you.
Next, Moses told them to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. He promised they would never see those Egyptians again. Not because the armies would overtake them, but because God was going to drown the Egyptians.
Finally, Moses told the children of Israel that the Lord would fight for them, but they must hold their peace. As the world crumbles around us, stop complaining. Stop murmuring. We must hold our peace too, and watch as the Lord fights for us. Watch Him part our Red Sea.
When God boxes us into a corner, He is preparing to show up in a marvelous and miraculous way. God is getting ready to wow us with His awesome power. He is increasing our faith for the future.
Israel would face bigger battles as they entered the Promised Land. You and I face an uncertain future too. The faith we build today will be the faith we stand on tomorrow.
When we are all out of options, God is our one true option. Trust Him to part your Red sea. Trust Him to fight for you. Trust Him when He tells you that you will never see these armies again. Armies of disease. Armies of depression. Armies of brokenness. Armies of terror.
Today, we have our orders. Do not fear. Hush! Shhh! Watch God fight for you. Lord God, I’m all out of options, but that’s a small problem for You. One you can fix just like when You parted the Red Sea, allowing Israel to march across on dry ground. I am trusting You instead of cowering in fear. I won’t complain or blame. I will trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

HIKING THE TRAIL
Prayerfully consider the difficulties in your life. Could it be the hand of God and not the enemy? Whenever fearful thoughts drop in, banish them immediately as you declare your faith in God. Only allow praise to escape your lips as your faith grows.
