For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV.

We have seen fear through a new perspective recently. The Corona virus has created worldwide panic. Many folks reacted with fear, concern, and anxiety. Just how do people with a strong confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ respond to this unknown season we are traversing?

God wants us to relinquish the fear Corona may have over us in exchange for what the Lord offers. Fear doesn’t come from God. It is from the devil, the world, or the flesh. All of which are our enemies, but let’s look at what God gives us instead. Power.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)

Notice where that power is. That’s right, it’s in you and it’s in me. Have you ever slipped out of bed during the night seeking relief from a terrible headache? After rummaging through your medicine cabinet, you give up the search for a pain reliever and retreat to your bed. Several days later, you find that bottle you had desperately needed. It was in your possession all along, but you hadn’t accessed it.

We have to appropriate the Holy Spirit through prayer and fasting. Righteous living and time in the Bible are just as vital.

Love. What happened to neighborly love? I elected not to attend an out-of-town author festival on the possibility that we could carry Corona back to my elderly mother-in-law. That’s love. Hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer isn’t loving. Some people aren’t able to get to the store. Some live on a fixed income, and they can only purchase what they need for the week. If you have an abundance, please share with someone in need.

A sound mind. When I am afraid, I lack stability. Whether it’s an encounter with a bear or facing blindness. God gives us wisdom. Common sense that says stay home when you’re sick. We live in such a rat race that we go no matter how bad we feel. Why is it when people get sick, they flock to Walmart and church? Has consideration for others become a thing of the past?

Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If you think Corona makes the world crazy, wait until you see what God does. Jesus died for our sins, but you have to trust Him as Savior in order to spend eternity in heaven. And mean it in your heart, not just fire insurance.

Jesus is coming again to take us home in the rapture. When that happens, all sorts of death, famine, and evil will rule the world for seven years. But you can avoid it all and join us in heaven where wee will worship the Lamb of God. Will you be saved today?

Lord Jesus, I know You died for my sin on the cross. I believe You are God the Son, and I have lived in sin. I want to turn that around and live for You now. Please forgive me and save me. Amen.

HIKING THE TRAIL

When fear ensnares you, remember you are not without power. It resides in you. Respond with love and stability, and pray!
