And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 NIV)
I scanned the numbers again. I could only squeeze in a small monthly amount to push my book into publication and into the hands of readers. God, please provide for this need, because this isn’t enough.
Earlier this year, a dedicated reader sent me a love offering when I had a need she didn’t know about. How would God provide this time?
Has God ever not provided what you needed? We’re talking about real needs, not wants. I doubt anyone can say they experienced a real need that God failed to meet.
We trust God to keep us out of hell, right? If you worry whether or not you’ll make it to heaven, please let me know, because I don’t think we worry about that often. If we do worry about where we will spend eternity, we can accept Jesus’s free gift of salvation and settle the matter.
So, what do we worry about? Money, health, and our families. All of those worries increase when we look at our crumbling economy and culture.
If we trust Jesus to go to heaven, why don’t we trust Him to get our groceries? Why don’t we trust Him with our health and families? Why don’t we trust Him with the crazy world we live in?
We look at the facts, but the facts aren’t true. The fact is that everything costs more, but the truth in our focal verse says God will provide our needs. It doesn’t say only when grocery prices are down. It doesn’t say except in a recession and when supply chains aren’t broken. It says He supplies our needs.
Wait, there’s more. My God has riches. He doesn’t provide out of poverty. He doesn’t provide out of the leftovers. He provides for us out of His riches. God not only owns the cattle on a thousand hills, He owns the hills too. He owns this entire world, because He created it out of nothing.
I believe Jesus still multiplies the fish and the loaves each time we go to the store. We always find something on sale.
That need I prayed about earlier? God met it. He opened a new door of ministry connected to a paycheck. Isn’t God good? He opened up a new platform of ministry which is an honor, plus I get paid to do it.
That’s the God I know. That’s the God of the Bible, and He is your God too. Stop worrying and looking at the facts, because facts can lie. Believe the Word and promises of God, and get a good night’s sleep.
Heavenly Father, help me trust You without any doubts. Since I trust You to take me to heaven, I know You will provide for all my needs. Help me distinguish my needs from my wants, and give me wisdom as I budget my money. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
DIG DEEPER
Read Psalm 50:10 NIV:
for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
HIKING THE TRAIL
Each time, you are tempted to worry, refuse it. Instead speak the truth of God, and believe it.

YES! I have seen God provide for me over and over in my need. Every once in a while, I will be blessed with a want, but God has never failed to meet me in a need. So thankful for that!
