Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book, they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. (Psalm 139:16 NKJV)
I didn’t recognize the name of the woman on social media, but I had known her desperation.
“Lord be with her right now. Show her Your purpose for her life.”
Was she undecided about choices for her future, or was it a plea for help as depression threatened to engulf her? I didn’t know. I’ll never know.
Sometimes, I’ve questioned God’s call on my life. A blind woman as an author? Really, God? But for the past decade, I’ve always had a knowing about God’s purpose for my life. The general direction has always been ministry even though the roads may change. Prior to Covid, I had a full speaking schedule, but now almost all of my ministry is online.
I recall the times when I didn’t recognize my gift. Where did I fit into the kingdom of God? I felt a bit lost. Was I supposed to sing, bake cookies for the children, or stand in the gap and pray?
I like to have plans with my days mapped out. I’m not a fan of last-minute changes. It’s part of my desire for complete control, but I’ve found that God usually doesn’t inform me of His plans or warn me of cancellations.
What gift has God given you? The Bible speaks of gifts of ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, leading, and mercy (Rom. 12:8 NKJV). Do you identify with the nameless woman who felt clueless about God’s purpose for her on earth? Perhaps you identify with me, and you know the general direction, but you’ve learned to expect detours.
Did you know God made these plans for us before we were born? He even wrote them in a book. He just doesn’t see the need to share them with us until the right time. That’s a good thing, because I would have trembled at the thought of public speaking before I was ready.
Our focal verse takes us back to the days in our mothers’ wombs. Before God formed our little arms and legs, and before God gave us ten fingers and ten toes, He made plans for us. Even my genetic disposition for blindness was part of His plan. God has a purpose even for those the world calls imperfect. We were God’s tiny masterpieces with a plan.
God has a purpose for you, my friend. He might not have revealed it yet, but it’s in His book. You are valued. You are loved, and You have purpose. Stay close to your heavenly Father and allow Him to lead you on His path.
Lord, Your love is evident by the plans You have for me. Help me trust You even when You don’t reveal my purpose. I am a willing vessel. Use me and guide me. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

I have discovered that some of Gods purposes in our lives are seasonal. The calling is generally the same (as in service or ministery or teaching etc) but what God places in our paths within that calling is for seasons.
Yes, most definitely. 2019 was full of in-person speaking engagements. 2020 started like that, but when Covid came on the scene they became FB lives. We just never know where God will place us.
