Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according [1]to the power that works in us,
Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
Timmy turned, looking in the back seat. His voice was one of shock. “Iva, what’s wrong? Your eyes are swollen!”
She hadn’t acted like herself when Timmy came home. She didn’t meet him at the door. She didn’t want to come with us as we hurried out the door to run an errand.
But now, back at home, it all made sense. Something was wrong. I coaxed her out of the car, but she didn’t walk around. I called the vet as I jumped in the back seat with Iva.
Between sobs, I prayed for healing. Guilt consumed me. I had paid her little attention that day. I kept busy cleaning, changing sheets, and doing laundry. The few times I petted her; she was quieter than normal. Why didn’t I sit with her? I ran my fingers across her head. Why couldn’t I feel the swelling?
We waited in the car. With the COVID-19 crisis, we weren’t allowed to accompany her inside the clinic.
Shortly, the vet came outside to discuss Iva’s condition with us. Iva had a fever and a nasal discharge. Since the swelling only surrounded her eyes and not her muzzle, he ruled out a snake bite. He admitted he didn’t know what was causing her symptoms. Earlier, she had violently sneezed three times consecutively, unlike anything I had ever heard. The vet thought there may be a connection. They ran tests, ruling out the worst possibilities, but the only conclusion he could draw was a possible insect bite or sting and the sneezing fit.
Iva came out of the vet clinic, tail wagging. I hadn’t stopped praying. Our focal verse is one of several I prayed. Nothing is too hard for God. He can do exceedingly above all we ask or think, and I was asking for a miracle. Not only can He do exceedingly above what we think or ask, He can do exceedingly abundantly above all we think or ask. As Iva got in the car, she already seemed better. They gave us medication, but they hadn’t treated her. No shot. Nothing.
Once home, Iva still had some puffiness and discharge, but she acted like her usual playful self. By thee next day, she was like new.
Without a doubt, God healed her. She went into the clinic very sick, but when she came out, she was exceedingly better. In less than twenty-four hours, she was exceedingly abundantly better.
My friend, God still heals. Yes, even a dog. He heals us and He heals our fur babies. He is Jehovah Rophe, the Lord our healer.
When we pray believing for an answer. When we boldly seek a miracle. When we claim the promises of God. When we do all of that, He heals. Let me encourage you today to seek God in faith and in boldness. Hold Him to His promises. God still heals.
