Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.
(Psalm 139:6 NKJV)

Over thirty days have passed, and no word from my daughter. I should be accustomed to this by now. She always pulls away when her life takes a wrong turn.

Sometimes, I think God shields me from something I don’t need to know and can’t fix. I’m learning that when she becomes distant, I can go to God, the one who knows all things. He knows where she is. He knows how she is, and my prayers are no less effective because I can’t pray specifically. God has probably rescued her a dozen times that I will never know about and that’s amazing.

Psalm 139 begins with some of the best Scriptures on the omniscience and omnipresence of God. Allow me to explain, if those words are unfamiliar to you.

The prefix “omni- “means “all.” The word Omniscience means God is all-knowing. The word omnipresent means He is present everywhere.

I don’t know where my prodigal is, but God has His eyes on her. I don’t know whether she is homeless, sick, or hurt, but God knows all of that and much more.

If you are a mom with a wayward son or daughter, draw nigh to God, because He is as close to your loved one as you can get for now. Maybe your relationship with your children is intact, but you long to live closer to them. Bridge that distance through the Lord

Instead of feeling helpless, we can feel empowered when we pray. Living with children who have gone astray adds heartache and frustration to our souls. Friend, God not only knows everything about our children, He knows what we feel. He comforts us in our pain. He protects us from things better left unknown.

Connect with God because He is the direct connection to your prodigal.

This doesn’t bring our children home, but until that day, this is the best we can do. In all honesty, God loves our children more than we do. I know that sounds impossible, but it’s so true.

If you are that momma without that loved one in your life, my prayer is that this will nudge you to pray and allow God to be your direct connection.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being all-knowing and all-present. Watch my dear one. Help them, feed them. Clothe them. Shelter them. Please Lord, save them and return them to me. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
