Throwback Thursday: True Challenges

TRUE CHALLENGES

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.   -Phil. 4:13

Television is full of reality shows, but these are not the true realities of life. Reality is the family who goes through therapy with their autistic child in order to make life as normal as possible. Reality is the wounded warrior who served his country and now he must learn to live in a wheelchair and use prosthetic arms. Reality is the teenager who learns to surf again after losing her arm to a shark attack. Reality is the couple who prays over their seriously ill child for a miracle. Reality is learning braille when you are losing your eyesight. Reality is a woman, paralyzed from the shoulders down, who learns to paint by holding the paint brush between her teeth. These are all real people and the list could go on.

What can we do through Christ? We can do “all things”– not “some things”– but ALL. When Christians face the true challenges of life, they must lean on Christ. We have no strength in ourselves. It comes from God. We are like the Apostle Paul because when we are weak, then we are made strong (2 Cor. 12:10). Paul was sitting in a roman prison when he wrote Phillipians. He trusted God completely.

Rejoice as David did in Psalm 28:7, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.”
