He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.

Ps. 147:4 (NKJV)

A few nights ago, I stepped out onto the patio, and I noticed a full moon. It was not quite completely dark, and I waited a few minutes to enjoy the moon in the darkness. With total blindness impending, I make a point to enjoy all of God’s creations while I still have some vision. As I sat waiting, I kept noticing a light out of the corner of my eye, which is the only area in which I have any vision. I kept trying to focus on the light. Could it be a star? I have not been able to see stars for several years. Actually, I gave up looking for them. As the darkness crept in, I noticed more lights. Yes, they were stars! God had blessed me with His wondrous creations.

Why would He name the stars? I cannot answer that, but it gives me hope, and it strengthens my faith. If He names the stars, and since He feeds the beasts and the ravens (v.9), what more will He do for me! I am one that Christ died for. He did not die for the stars, beasts, or ravens. Christ died for people.

Christian, we have no reason to worry or fear. We are loved so much by God that He gave His only Son to die in our place. He will provide and protect us. He created a beautiful world for our enjoyment.

We can rejoice in God’s sovereignty. It was by God’s sovereignty and providence that I was in the right place at the right time so I could see the stars. He even situated me where my vision had the correct focus. You may call it coincidence, but I know that every now and then God gives me miraculous views of His wonders.

Join me in praising our loving, merciful God. Never forget the depths of His love and care.
