IN DUE TIME
By Carolyn Dale Newell
“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care on Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:5-7 NKJV
When trials and testing begin, what do you pray for? Most of us ask God to deliver us from it quickly. We need to go through the trial so God’s purpose will be accomplished. He is perfecting and purifying us.
There are many reasons god allows us to go through trials. As we see in these verses, we need to be humble and learn patience. We are certainly not humble when we tell a sovereign God to work on our timetable. Only God knows what it takes to accomplish His purpose. At that time, His own perfect due time, He will exalt us; lift us out of the trial.
Nobody enjoys the suffering and pain of trying times, but when we humbly submit ourselves to God’s plan, He will give us grace. His grace will enable us to endure even the toughest of times. That is why we trust Him and cast all our cares on Him.
The Apostle Paul gave us the same command in Romans 12:12 when he tells us to be patient in tribulation. Patience is a fruit of the spirit (Gal. 5:22).
Whether you are going through a trial now or in the future, submit to God’s perfect will and timing. Trust Him to take all your cares and give you the grace you need. Be patient and wait on the Lord.
Lord, we know we must wait for Your time. You created us, and You know us better than we know ourselves. Help us wait. Amen.
