The Key To Peace

THE KEY TO PEACE

By Carolyn Dale Newell

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Phil. 4:6-7 NKJV

What is the key to being at peace with everything in your life? How can you feel peace when the battle is raging around you? How can you remain calm when you face disease or death? The answer is in the verse above – thankfulness.

God expects us to cry out for help during the storms – “let your requests be made known to God.” However, He commanded us to be thankful, not anxious. Yes, we are thankful for what He will do, but we should also be thankful that He will keep us in the midst of trouble with His perfect peace.

Prayer is the channel through which peace flows. Just the sweet fellowship when we commune with our heavenly Father brings us peace. There is a special type of prayer which moves the waters of peace. It is a prayer of thanksgiving. Thankfulness is the key which unlocks the flood gates to peace.

When we feel the strain of a health crisis, the anxiety of a broken relationship, the stress of life, we need to take a Jesus break and thank Him. Then the peace begins to flow.

His peace is not of this world. It is supernatural peace which the world cannot comprehend. We don’t understand it, but we feel it.

It guards our hearts and minds, the seat of our emotions. Instead of fear, panic, or worry, we feel peace.

Let’s begin thanking God today. Thank Him for His amazing grace. Thank Him for the strength He gives us to do all things. Thank Him for salvation and mercy. Thank Him for being our provider, healer, comforter, and Father. He deserves our thanks. Make every prayer a thankful prayer.

Father, thank You for so much: our family, our friends, our jobs, our homes, our health, and mostly thank You for salvation. You are the one who holds our lives together. I pray peace for Christians today, Your precious peace, and I thank You for the gift of supernatural peace. I pray for the peace of Israel. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HIKING THE TRAIL

Set one day aside to do nothing but thank God when you pray. What are you most thankful for today?
