The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them
  Ps. 34:7 (NKJV)

Have you ever considered the invisible spirit world that surrounds us? God has placed angels around His children. We can find eye witness testimony of this in 2 Kings chapter 6.

Under the cover of darkness, the Syrian army had surrounded Elisha and the city where he was staying. “And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, ‘Alas, my master! What shall we do?” (2 Kings 6:15).

We have all experienced those “What shall we do?” moments. We are not surrounded by the Syrians, but we may be surrounded by fear, doubt, pain, or worry. It may be an impending tragedy where you only have a split second to react.

Elisha said to his servant, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kin. 6:16). The servant was already scared and full of panic. Now, he was probably quite bewildered by Elisha’s statement, but Elisha prayed for God to open his servants’ eyes. What did the servant see? “Behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 kin. 6:17b). A mighty group of angels were surrounding them.

Dear friend, they surround us too. What shall we do? We shall trust in God’s protective hand. We shall trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. His holy angels surround us, and they are ready to do God’s bidding.

We will probably never know all the things that God has protected us from. Just think of all the things that could have happened today, but they didn’t. Praise our heavenly Father for His continual watchful eye, and His mighty hand of protection.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for surrounding us with angels, for protecting us, and for everything that did NOT happen today. It is comforting to know that no matter what… You are watching over us. Amen.

HIKING THE TRAIL

Thank God for the times you have been delayed or your plans changed only to discover that you avoided an accident due to those changes. How does this passage of Scripture change your knowledge about angels?
